Algonquin Park was established in 1893 to provide a wildlife sanctuary, and by excluding agriculture, to protect the headwaters of the five major rivers which flow from the Park. Soon it was “discovered”, at first by adventurous fishermen, then by Tom Thomson and The Group of Seven artists. Over the years the Park has earned unconditional devotion and worldwide fame.

Opened in 1993 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Algonquin Provincial Park and the entire Ontario provincial park system, the Algonquin Park Visitor Centre has world class exhibits on the Park's natural and human history, a relaxing restaurant and an excellent bookstore. A theatre presentation sums up the Park story and then takes you out to the viewing deck from where you can admire a breathtaking panorama of wild Algonquin landscape.

Its size, combined with its proximity to the major urban centres of Toronto and Ottawa , makes Algonquin one of the most popular provincial parks in the province and the country. Highway 60 runs through the south of the park, while the Trans-Canada Highway bypasses it to the north.

Voyageur Quest operates award winning Algonquin Park winter adventure vacations that showcase the best of winter adventure and regional culture. Our 3 day Algonquin winter trips , selected by the Canadian Tourism Commission as the “Best in Canada” features Algonquin Park dog sledding, torch lit skating, snowshoeing and backcountry skiing. Our private Algonquin Park cabin rentals are ideal for small groups for snowshoeing and back country skiing.

I'll be away camping until Friday. Until then I won't be able to reply to emails or calls, but a friend is handling map orders so they'll continue to ship out with no delay :)
